Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer

Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer took on the role of Group Chief Executive Officer, at Qatar Airways Group, 5 November 2023. His appointment underscores his distinguished career, forged over two decades, pioneering multi-billion-dollar aviation, construction, and real estate development projects, while also reflecting Qatar’s succession planning towards a new generation of leaders.

Throughout his career, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer has played pivotal roles in some of Qatar's most intricate and iconic development projects. Notably, he has served as the   Chief Operating Officer of Hamad International Airport (HIA) since   2014, leading critical divisions such as MATAR (Airport Company), Qatar Duty-Free, Qatar Aviation Services, Qatar Aircraft Catering Company, Qatar Distribution Centre, Dhiafatina, and Real Estate.

While at   HIA, he adeptly guided the airport through major milestones and challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the    Expansion   Project, and the pivotal FIFA World Cup 2022TM. His leadership also played an instrumental role in HIA being acclaimed as the   Best Airport in the   World, a testament to the strength and dedication of the entire team.

From 2018 to 2020, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer was a Board Director of the Airports Council International in the Asia/Pacific Region, contributing to Future Airport Development and Airport Sustainability. Prior to his tenure at HIA, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer spent a decade with the United Development Company (UDC), ultimately rising to the position of Acting Chief Executive Officer.

During this time, he oversaw the delivery of the Pearl Project, UDC's flagship endeavour a renowned urban development in Qatar celebrated for its architectural design. With engineering degrees from the American University of Beirut and the University of Colorado, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer brings a solid educational foundation and a wealth of business insight and technical expertise in engineering, construction, and large-scale project development.

In his new role as Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer's track record of successful projects and expertise in aviation and project management uniquely positions him to lead Qatar Airways Group into an exciting new era, prioritising innovation and cultivating a united and motivated workforce.
