Abu Dhabi witnesses tonight the opening of the Annual General Meeting of the Arab Air Carriers Organization at “Emirates Palace” hotel by kind invitation from Etihad Airways, represented by its CEO, Mr. James Hogan, who will chair over the event. The meeting brings together more than three hundred of the leaders of civil aviation in theUnited Arab Emirates, the Arab world and the world at large.
AACO 44thAGM working sessions are being held on 29 November 2011 in “Saker Ballroom” at the “Fairmont Bab Al Bahr” hotel. The working sessions will receive a report by AACO Secretary General, Mr. Abdul WahabTeffaha, about the state of the industry, and a speech byMr. Tony Tyler, Director General and CEO of IATA.
AACO members will be convening a closed working session to discuss and decide upon internal AACO matters, and joint issues related to AACO strategic path within the scope of AACO’s mission to serve the Arab airlines, represent their common interests and be the catalyst for their cooperation.
The third working session will address the strategic issue of “Europe and the Arab World: Competition within Cooperation”. To help the discussions, there will be in this session a high level panel of speakers, moderated by Mr. John McCulloch, Senior Principal at Seabury aviation with the participation of H.E. Eng. Khalid Al Molhem/Director General/ Saudi Arabian Airlines, Mr. FilipCornelis/Head of Unit/ European Commission, Mr. Akbar Al Baker/Chief Executive Officer/ Qatar Airways, Mr. Philip Good/ Policy Advisor of DG Climate Action/ European Commission, and Mr. Ulrich Schulte-Strathaus/ Secretary General/ AEA.
The AGM will conclude its business the same day with a press conference to be held at “Saker Ballroom” at the “Fairmont Bab Al Bahr”hotel. The Chairman of the AGM and the Secretary General of AACO will respond to the questions of the media representatives.
