The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's airports recorded a rise in the number of passengers carried and flights operated in 2015 with 81.9 million passengers, an increase of 9.5%, and 646,693 flights, an increase of 9.8%, in comparison with 74.8 million passengers and 589,216 flights in 2014.
In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) disclosed that the number of passengers at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah recorded 30.1 million passengers with 212,799 flights, increasing by 7.3% and 16.6% respectively when compared to 2014 figures. Whereas, King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh reached 22.5 million passengers and 172,754 flights in 2015, an increase of 12.1% in passenger numbers and 5.7% in the number of flights operated in 2014. The GACA added that 9.4 million passengers and 84,803 flights were registered at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, increasing by 14.1% in passenger numbers and 7% in the number of flights operated in 2014. Moreover, 6.3 million passengers and 48,296 flights were recorded at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport in Madinah, registering a drop of 0.5% in the number of passengers and 5% in the number of 2014 flights.
The authority highlighted that 23 regional and domestic airports in the Kingdom recorded 13.5 million passengers and 128,041 flights in 2015.
