Air traffic at the Moroccan airports increased during the month of January 2018. 1,687,226 passengers used these airports, an increase of 16.49% over the same period of 2017.
Mohammed V airport, which accounts for almost 45% of the air traffic, welcomed 758,209 passengers, an increase of 8.40%, while most Moroccan airports registered significant growth as follows: Agadir Al Massira airports 32.43%, Fez Saiss 31.41%, Marrakech-Menara 26.49%, and Tangier Ibn Battouta 13.88%.
In January 2018, domestic air transport increased by 21.06% compared to January 2017. International passengers also increased by 15.99% with 1,513,679 passengers during January 2018 compared to that of 2017.
Air traffic with Europe grew by 19.31%, while that with the segments of Africa, North America and South America recorded an increase of 6.45%, 32.18% and 46.34% respectively. The Middle and Far East market experienced a 0.12% growth, while the market of the Maghreb countries recorded a decrease of (3.51%).
Aircraft movement at Moroccan Airports totalled 14,950 movements for January 2018, up 11.60% compared to the same period of 2017 where Cargo recorded a rise of 7.84% with 6,988.14 tons compared to 6,480.31 tons in January 2017.
