Saudia is building an international IT park at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) in Rabigh, northwest of Jeddah, which is expected to support the Kingdom’s move to build smart cities.
HE Eng. Khalid Al-Molhem, Director General of Saudia, has signed a deal on 5 March with Mr. Fahd Al-Rasheed, CEO and managing director of KAEC to build the Saudia Green IT Park in the city.
The project would help transform the Kingdom from a society that consumes IT products to the one that produces IT solutions.
The presence of Saudia with its huge IT potentials and long standing experience in the field would support the Kingdom’s move to build smart cities.
Saudia’s new IT Research and Development Center in KAEC will train Saudis required for the airline as well as other companies. The airline’s IT Department intends to establish research relations with international IT companies and Saudi universities, especially King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.
During the ceremony, 11 agreements were signed with Amadeus, SITA, HP, CA, CISCO, SAP, Microsoft, TATA, Huawei, Wipro, and STC.
The IT park project will be implemented on an area of 21,000 square meters in KAEC’s industrial valley.
