Implementing the strategic plan of the national carrier Kuwait Airways and enhancing its operational capabilities through its fleet, the Board Chairman Mr. Yousif Al Jassim is pleased to announce that Kuwait Airways has signed on Monday 15th October 2018, at Toulouse, France, an agreement for purchasing 8 (A330-800 NEO) medium- to long range aircraft, These air craft are characterized with operational and economic efficiency, when compared to aircraft of the same category.
Kuwait Airways is considered one of the first carriers all over the world to approve such modern aircraft for its fleet. According to this agreement, Kuwait Airways managed to reduce the capital costs of the fleet in its new combination, not to mention the lower operational costs for the aircraft.
Signing this agreement is the culmination of long negotiations between Airbus representatives and Kuwait Airways during the past five months.
Accordingly, Kuwait Airways fleet will be composed of 38 aircraft of the models below for achieving flexible operations through the long, medium and short-range aircraft:
- 5 A350-900 Airbus aircraft
- 8 NEO A330-800 Airbus aircraft
- 15 A320 NEO Airbus aircraft
- 10 B777 -300ER Boeing aircraft
The new Airbus aircraft will be received according to a time plan stretches from 2019 to the end of 2026, the new aircraft shall replace the currently rented aircraft as per the time schedule agreed upon.
