Gulf Air posts best annual results since 2004

Gulf Air posted its 2014 financial and operational results, the airline's strongest financial results in a decade. The results reflect a fall in annual losses from USD 247.13 million in 2013 to USD 166.08 million in 2014 - equivalent to a 32.8% reduction.
The airline, in 2014, continued to strategically shift from low-value transit traffic through Bahrain to high-yield, high-demand, point-to-point routes focused largely on the MENA region while, in tandem, better utilizing its existing assets to push the business forward. As a result Gulf Air witnessed, over the course of the year, a 15.4% rise in total revenue passengers.
In line with the ongoing holistic strategy implemented since Gulf Air's 2013 restructuring, the carrier's financial trajectory remains on a positive upswing reflected by its consistently falling losses as the airline moves closer to achieving full commercial sustainability. In tandem, Gulf Air's 2014 developments are visible across a broad spectrum of deliverables.
On the network front, Gulf Air extended its network to 41 destinations by the end of 2014. Gulf Air's network in 2014 saw landmark growth with flights launched to 6 destinations in all of Europe, the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East. This was further enhanced by the airline's continuous, dynamic schedule adjustments with increased frequencies to various destinations across its network in response to passenger demand. Strategically utilizing its fleet capability to cater to the airline's growing capacity and network requirements, Gulf Air's 28 all- Airbus wide and narrow body fleet of predominantly new aircraft underwent specific, targeted enhancements that were completed by the end of 2014.
Operationally, 2014 saw Gulf Air's on-time-punctuality results position the airline as one of the global leaders in on-time-punctuality, with an average annual on-time-performance of 89%. Operating one of the largest regional networks with double daily flights to over 10 regional cities, Gulf Air's record punctuality facilitates its seamless operations across its network. The year also saw, on the technical front, the national carrier completing its first insourced Airbus A330 18-Month Check at the airline's base maintenance facility. Channeling its strong in-house technical expertise and further building Bahraini, home-grown engineering skills and capabilities, Gulf Air is moving towards establishing a robust aircraft maintenance system and this most recent development delivered important cost savings while preserving the quality of aircraft servicing.
With 64% Bahrainisation, Gulf Air continues to be a key employer committed to developing a national workforce of aviation professionals.
Gulf Air's 2014 financial results were audited by the international accounting firm Ernst and Young and approved at the AGM in the presence of representatives from Bahrain's Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the airline's external auditor.

طيران الخليج تحقق أفضل نتائج مالية منذ العام 2004

أعلنت طيران الخليج عن نتائجها المالية والتشغيلية للعام 2014 والتي تعد الأفضل منذ 10 سنوات، حيث عكست انخفاضاً في الخسائر السنوية من 247.13 مليون دولار أميركي في العام 2013 إلى 166.08 مليون دولار أميركي في العام 2014، وهو يعادل ما نسبته 32.8 بالمئة.
وقد واصلت طيران الخليج في العام 2014 تنفيذ إستراتيجية ترتكز على تحويل دور الشركة بوصفها تعتمد على عمليات التشغيل على حركة عبور منخفضة القيمة عبر مطار البحرين الدولي، إلى ناقلة تقدِّم خدمات مباشرة إلى وجهات سفر ذات عائدات مرتفعة عبر قطاعات السفر التي تصل مباشرة بين نقطتين على شبكة الخطوط الجوية، مع التركيز على منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال افريقيا، والتركيز في الوقت ذاته على الاستفادة المثلى من الأصول التي تملكها طيران الخليج للارتقاء بأنشطتها التجارية لتحقيق النتائج المرجوة، وهو ما أدى إلى زيادة بنسبة 15.4 في المئة في عائدات المسافرين عن العام 2013.
في ضوء استراتيجية إعادة الهيكلة التي بدأت طيران الخليج في تنفيذها مطلع العام 2013، هناك تحسّن ملحوظ للوضع المالي لطيران الخليج، والذي يؤكده مدى الانخفاض المستمر في الخسائر من حيث سعي الشركة المتواصل إلى تحقيق الاستدامة المنشودة؛ حيث أصبح من الواضح للعيان مشاهدة التطورات الإيجابية التي مرت بها الشركة على جميع الأصعدة.
أما على صعيد شبكة الخطوط الجوية للشركة، فقد شهدت شبكة وجهات طيران الخليج نمواً ملحوظاً بإضافة 6 محطات جديدة في كل من أوروبا، وشبه القارة الهندية، والشرق الأوسط ليصل بذلك عدد محطاتها إلى 41 محطة في نهاية العام 2014. كما عززت طيران الخليج من جدول رحلاتها إلى وجهات مختلفة ليتناسب بشكل ديناميكي مع زيادة الطلب لحركة المسافرين حول شبكتها. وقد استطاعت طيران الخليج توظيف أقصى الإمكانات المتاحة لأسطولها الجوي لاستيعاب الطلب المتنامي على رحلاتها الجوية ليتماشى ذلك مع نمو شبكة الخطوط الجوية؛ حيث خضع أسطول طيران الخليج المؤلّف من 28 طائرة ايرباص صغيرة وكبيرة الحجم إلى عدد من التعديلات التي تم الانتهاء منها في نهاية العام 2014.
على الصعيد التشغيلي، شهد العام 2014 ريادة طيران الخليج عالمياً في مجال الالتزام بمواعيد الرحلات مع معدل سنوي بنسبة 89 في المئة. وتتميز طيران الخليج بتشغيل أحد أكبر شبكات الخطوط الجوية في المنطقة مع رحلات يومية مزدوجة إلى أكثر من 10 مدن في الشرق الأوسط، كما أن التزامها بمواعيد الرحلات يسهل الحركة السلسة للرحلات حول شبكتها. وقد شهد نهاية العام 2014 إنجازاً تقنياً متمثلاً في استكمال إجراء أولى الفحوصات الفنية والصيانة اللازمة لأسطول طائرات الناقلة من طراز A330، والتي تتم كل 18 شهراً؛ وتفخر الناقلة بإتمام ذلك في قاعدة الصيانة الخاصة بطيران الخليج في مملكة البحرين. ويعد هذا الإنجاز دليلاً على خبرات الناقلة الفنية الوطنية المؤهلة، الأمر الذي يحقق وفراً في التكاليف ويؤمن مستويات جودة عالية لصيانة الطائرات.
ولكون الشركة ملتزمة بإعداد الكوادر البشرية المطلوبة من طيارين وفنيين في مجال الطيران على الصعيد الوطني، تفتخر طيران الخليج بنسبة بحرنة بلغت 64 في المئة.
يشار إلى أن تقرير نتائج الأداء التشغيلي المالي والإداري لطيران الخليج للعام 2014 قد قامت به شركة «إيرنست أند يونغ» العالمية المعروفة، وتم اعتماد تلك النتائج خلال اجتماع الجمعية العمومية السنوي العام بحضور ممثلين عن وزارة الصناعة والتجارة والمدققين الخارجيين التابعين للناقلة.
