flydubai announces Second-Half profit of AED 157 million driven by stronger yields and revenue growth and minimizes annual loss

Key Results for 2018
- flydubai has announced its Results for the reporting period ending 31 December 2018
- flydubai reports total annual revenue of AED 6.2 billion (USD 1.7 billion) compared to AED 5.5 billion (USD 1.5 billion) last year; an increase of 12.4% compared to the same period the previous year
- Second-Half Profit sees annual loss reduced to AED 159.8 million (USD 43.5 million)
- Total annual operating cost includes a price impact of AED 411 million (USD 112 million) in fuel costs
- 11 million passengers travelled across the flydubai network; a moderate year on year increase
- Took delivery of a total of 7 new Boeing 737 MAX 8 and MAX 9 aircraft

Statements on the 2018 Annual Results
Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, said: “In line with expectations 2018 was a challenging year however we have continued to invest in our capacity and increased revenue.  We optimised our network by increasing flight frequencies on existing routes and adding new routes and as they become established they will support our further growth.” 
Francois Oberholzer, Chief Financial Officer of flydubai, said: “Our performance in 2018 was impacted largely due to increasing fuel costs, rising interest rates and unfavourable currency exchange movements.  Following our Half-Year Results, we continued to focus on further efficiency programmes across the business and these have resulted in a better second half.  The emphasis we have put on these programmes is expected to result in an improvement to our financial performance.”

فلاي دبي تحقق 157 مليون درهم ارباحا للنصف الثاني للعام 2018 مسجلة عوائد أقوى ونمو إيجابي في الإيرادات

 - اعلنت فلاي دبي عن نتائجها المالية للفترة المنتهية في 31 ديسمبر 2018
 - نمت عائدات الشركة بنسبة 12.4 بالمائة لتصل الى 6.2 مليار درهم (1.7  مليار دولار أمريكي) مقارنة مع 5.5 مليار درهم (1.5 مليار دولار) في العام الذي سبقه
 - الاداء القوي في النصف الثاني يقلص الخسائر السنوية الى 159.8 مليون درهم (43.5 مليون دولار)
 - تشمل تكلفة التشغيل الإجمالية تأثيرات بنحو 411 مليون درهم إماراتي (112 مليون دولار) بسبب زيادة أسعار النفط
 - نقلت الشركة 11 مليون مسافر عبر شبكة الناقلة، زيادة سنوية معتدلة
 - تسلمت الشركة 7 طائرات جديدة من طراز بوينغ 737 ماكس 8 وماكس 9
