The safe restart of Air Travel necessitated the need for collaboration amongst all stakeholders to put in place health measures that are risk-based, evidence-based, and globally harmonized, which will support a smooth return to the service of the commercial international air transport system. Another enabler that will also play a vital role will be technology, by providing a robust system that protects the health and wellbeing of passengers and air transport personnel.
Technology will play an important role to enhance the passenger experience and flow at the airport through a touchless environment serving the objective of social distancing between passengers and limiting interaction between passengers and air transport personnel. In that sense, technology will support the deployment of bio-security measures, facilitate the seamless transfer of passenger health information throughout the passenger journey, and enable the restoration of passenger confidence in the aviation system.
