The spread of the COVID-19 virus has proven to be a tough adversary for public health and border control authorities. Global efforts to contain the virus have led to the uncoordinated implementation of border closures, unilateral travel restrictions, and country-wide lockdowns, thus creating an unprecedented shock to the global economy and local communities. Passenger traffic has virtually stopped in most regions and revenues generated by the aviation industry have evaporated. In recent weeks, some – but not all – governments have stepped in to help stabilize the financial health of the aviation industry and so far countries have injected close to US$9 trillion dollars.
Content:
• How are major aviation markets responding to the liquidity crisis in the aviation industry?
• What are the aeropolitical and regulatory implications of a highly subsidized aviation industry in the post-COVID-19 world?

• Some principles to build a long-term advocacy agenda for Arab carriers in uncertain times, and the importance of coordination between national aviation authorities and the industry.
