A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the premises of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) between the aviation authorities in the Sultanate and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The MoU is related to regulating the air transport services between the two countries.
The MoU allows for increasing the number of seats to 2,600 between the sultanate and Karachi airport, as well as operating 16 weekly flights to a number of cities in the north of Pakistan (Lahore, Peshawar, Celikot and Milton), and seven weekly flights to Islamabad and seven other flights to Turbat.
As per the MoU, the national carriers of the two countries can operate any number of flights between the Sultanate and the Pakistani city of Jwadar. The MoU stipulates for opening the skies between the two countries to operate any number of cargo flights with utilizing the fifth freedom of air transport rights through intermediate points and points beyond the two countries.
