After a round of bilateral negotiations at QCAA headquarters in Doha, Civil Aviation Authorities in the State of Qatar and the Republic of Cyprus agreed to update the existing Air Service Agreement between the two countries, to include exercising fifth-freedom rights to intermediate and beyond points.
The agreement between the two countries was signed on April 2010 and entitled their respective national carriers to operate an unlimited number of passenger and cargo flights, without restrictions. The signatories on behalf of the State of Qatar and Republic of Cyprus agreed that their respective national carriers shall enter into code-share arrangements. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Mr. Abdul Aziz Mohammed al-Nuaimi, Chairman of Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, and H.E. Mr Anastasios Andreas Mitsopoulos, Minister of Communications and Works, on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus.
