EgyptAir and Aegean Airlines signed a codeshare agreement in light of EgyptAir’s strategy to expand its international network. It is worth noting that both carriers are members of Star Alliance.
This agreement will commence on 27 October 2013, whereby EgyptAir will be the marketing carrier for flights from Athens to Thessaloniki, and Rhodes to Heraklion and Hania. Moreover, Aegean Airlines will place its code on EgyptAir flights between Cairo and Athens, and Alexandria and Athens.
EgyptAir and Aegean Airlines’ frequent flyers will also be able to benefit from redeeming points from the flights operated by both carriers; as well as to enjoy other benefits that are provided to Star Alliance passengers. Currently, EgyptAir operates 10 weekly flights between Cairo and Athens.
